D. Earl Underwood, TBE Vice President Earl worked part-time for the firm while in college and joined us immediately after graduating from Texas Tech University in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. While learning to be a technician, he also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve, responsible for jet aircraft maintenance control. The combination of engineering discipline and military training instilled Earl’s penchant for quality, the primary principle that has guided his management of projects, procedures and people for 40+ years. As principal of Engineered Air Balance Co., Inc. since 1982, Earl has guided the development of standard testing, reporting and office procedures to ensure consistency throughout all branch offices. He co-edited the firm’s Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Procedures Manual 2007, a multi-year effort in which our own project managers were responsible for developing all of the content. Recognizing how our clients would benefit from an integrated approach to commissioning that matched the comprehensiveness of our TAB services, he led the charge to establish our HVAC commissioning services. Earl is certified by the Associated Air Balance Council as a TBE and is a member of ASHRAE.
