Commissioning Plumbing Systems Course

Commissioning Plumbing Systems

The Commissioning Plumbing Systems course teaches students with limited plumbing knowledge the verification process for plumbing fixtures and equipment.  Through comprehensive instruction in classroom and practical formats, students learn the completion of plumbing System Verification Checklists (SVCs) and Functional Performance Tests (FPTs). Commissioning Plumbing Systems course includes water, waste and vent systems, piping types, equipment, medical gas systems, construction documents and much more.  The overall learning objective is the ability to explain and verify plumbing systems and equipment used in a typical commercial or institutional building.

Instruction is classroom instruction with knowledge checks followed by practical instruction using a functioning plumbing system.  Students are told how systems and equipment work, are shown how to perform verifications and then perform verifications under supervision by an experienced commissioning provider (CxP). Students are taught to verify piping by using hand and power tools to assemble a reference sample they can keep of common pipes and joints.
