The TAB Advanced Air & Water Systems course teaches Total System Balancing of specialty systems a TAB professional must know to pass the AABC Test and Balance Engineer’s (TBE) Exam. The course is an optimal mix of classroom instruction, practical training, and problem-solving challenges. Classroom instruction is an essential component of the course, as it provides an understanding of underfloor air distribution (UFAD), psychrometrics, smoke control testing, domestic hot water balancing, energy recovery, laboratory HVAC, healthcare HVAC, chilled beams, humidifiers, steam fundamentals, vibration testing, cooling tower capacity testing, chilled water systems, and heating systems. Students apply the classroom instruction with practical training using EAB’s Training Center which has working demonstrators of most systems including a functioning lab. Problem-solving challenges, in class during practical exercises and assigned in daily homework, help students develop critical thinking and analytical skills which are essential for a senior TAB professional’s success.
