Career Progression
1995
David began his career at Engineered Air Balance as a Technician in Training after serving as a manager for a building materials corporation.
2000
David considers his experience as a supervisor on the original Alkek Building Project at MD Anderson to be one of the most impactful over the course of his career. He learned about different aspects of testing and balancing by working on the unique spaces throughout the building.
2001
As a Supervisor, David also contributed to the success of the St. Luke’s Heart Institute which contained a variety of spaces from operating rooms, patient care floors, laboratories, and a 500-seat telemedicine auditorium. The wide variety of spaces created unique challenges that the EAB team was able to overcome.
2006
One of David’s favorite projects over the course of his career was the testing and balancing of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas which is located in Houston. Being a high-security institution, David managed the project and met all of the government’s security requirements. He wishes that he could share more details about this very interesting project, but that’s classified.
2007
David was certified as a Test and Balance Engineer by the Associated Air Balance Council.
David led the testing and balancing of the Bioscience Research Collaborative (BRC) at Rice University, with laboratories and office spaces. EAB has continued to service the BRC as the facility has grown and evolved in its research programs. David continues to manage all ongoing Rice University projects.
2014-2020
Always prioritizing safety, David served as the Houston Branch Safety Coordinator ensuring our teams and partners are exceeding safety requirements.
Which of these core values (Integrity, Quality, Consistency and Teamwork) do you most identify with, and what does it mean to you?
Integrity, I am always seeking what is fair and truthful; at times following that path is difficult because it is not always the easiest path to take in this business.
What is your ideal room temperature, and why?
Humidity plays a big part of temperature in the space, 71.5 deg/45%. As I am getting older sometimes, I like a little warmer temperature; but I am not a fan of humidity.
What is your absolute favorite thing about working for EAB?
Solving a problem when other TAB firms were not successful. For instance, we were requested to assist on the Baylor College of Medicine Research Tower Vivarium after the original TAB firm was unable to balance the building; after months of testing and design modifications we were able to certify the vivarium so the owner could occupy it.
