Career Progression

1979
David’s demonstration of leadership capabilities began at an early age, and he was provided opportunities to operate independently while interning in the summers in the early 1980's.
1985
David became a Technician in Training upon graduating from East Texas State University with a B.A. in Marketing & Management.
1985
David’s first major projects were with Alcon Laboratories. This client provided David with the ability to develop his skills in the laboratory, manufacturing and clean room systems which provided a solid base for testing of sophisticated HVAC systems.
1995-2001
David’s next milestone was with MCI, a leading communications company and one of the largest long-distance providers in the country at the time. This client required extensive travel, providing David with the opportunity to make leadership decisions for the client on over 60 projects across the country.
1998
Another milestone that had a significant impact on David’s career was working with UT Arlington. This was a university where Earl Underwood performed much of his field testing, so there were large shoes to fill. David developed many of the skills regarding design review, project preparation, and project management during his time in Arlington.
2013
David was tasked with overseeing the massive Wishard Hospital/Eskanazi Health project in Indianapolis, Indiana. This involved living in Indiana for more than a year to interface with the design and construction teams and oversee all TAB activities with multiple teams traveling from the Dallas office.
2015
David played an important role in the multi-year testing and balancing of the new Facebook Data Center campus in Fort Worth. The project encompasses more than 2.5 million square feet spread over multiple buildings on the 170-acre site and is scheduled for completion in 2023. David leveraged his previous experience in Mission Critical Facilities to overcome challenges and deliver an optimum operating facility.
2017
Upon returning from Indiana, David managed the ongoing Alcon Labs/Novartis work. Alcon Labs/Novartis remains a client today and has also provided the platform for the development of our HEPA filter and Clean Room Certification services. This led to a period of significant growth in David’s career path.
2019-Present
Currently, David serves as the Preconstruction Manager for the Dallas office. With over 35 years of experience in facility testing, adjusting, balancing and control verification for HVAC systems, he is a perfect fit to lead the business development effort in the Dallas area.

Which of these core values (Integrity, Quality, Consistency and Teamwork) do you most identify with, and what does it mean to you?

I most identify with integrity because it is consistently exhibited throughout our organization. This core value is found in the fine details of all the work that we carry out for our clients. I have noticed that when integrity is displayed by all of our team members on the job, quality, consistency and teamwork will always follow. When all these values are present, our team can do amazing things.

What is your ideal room temperature, and why?

From a technical perspective, 71.6 degrees with 50% humidity is the ideal room temperature. However, in my years of experience at EAB, I’ve noticed that 73 degrees is the ideal temperature to create a harmonious environment in an office atmosphere.

What is your absolute favorite thing about working for EAB?

From our leadership all the way to our interns, my favorite aspect of EAB would have to be the people. I have had the pleasure of being mentored by some of the most experienced members of our team. These mentors, such as Jim Reid, the 2nd President of EAB, and Earl Underwood, the 3rd President, have instilled the value of continued learning that I hope to pass on to those that I mentor today.

What did you want to be when you were little?

Since a young age, I have loved playing sports. As a child, I dreamed about playing some-type-of sport at the next level. As I grew older, my passion for all types of sports quickly became focused on baseball and golf. Because of my dedication to these sports, I was actually in the position to consider playing at the next level. However, it didn’t pan out that way.

I like to think that I took the same passion I had for sports and applied it to my career at EAB. Both have been successful, and I am grateful for that!
