“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.” Isaiah 9:6-7
In our fast-paced lives, it’s easy to overlook the value of anticipation and waiting. Our world is moving faster every day, and we often rush through the holiday season, missing out on the beauty of waiting. It’s during these moments of anticipation the most precious gifts are revealed.
Isaiah wrote of God’s promise to us centuries before wise men would see a star in the East, or Joseph and Mary would make the difficult journey to Bethlehem. The promise that had been given was sure, but so much more needed to take place before it could be fulfilled. The anticipation and hope carried through generations made the arrival of the gift of Jesus even more precious.
In the rush of the holidays, may the words of Isaiah remind you to slow down, savor the moments of expectation, and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. The promise of a Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace brings enduring hope and joy.
Let us uncover and appreciate the moments that reflect the perfection of God’s plan—a plan that unfolded with the arrival of the long-awaited gift. May the spirit of anticipation and the joy of the Christmas season fill your heart and the hearts of those around you.
Merry Christmas!
