The hustle and bustle of another holiday season is upon us. Our weekends are filled with celebrations and shopping for the perfect gift to place under the tree. In the whirlwind of the season, it’s easy to be caught up in a list of expectations, worries of whether we’re doing enough, or simply filling our schedules so full that we don’t have time to reflect on the meaning of Christmas. But, through the snowstorm of to-do lists and party invitations one message rings true: this is the Season of Love.
It’s a love that compelled a Father to send His son. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” When God chose to send Jesus to walk this earth as a human – God in flesh, as the Scripture says (1 Timothy 3:16) – He knew what His son would face. He knew the path that laid ahead, the ultimate sacrifice Jesus would make for the redemption of all mankind. God knew all of this and still He gave His son. What an incredible gift! May this message of hope bring joy to your heart this season. May you feel the warmth of love and peace despite the busyness. The gift of hope didn’t arrive in bright wrapping paper or finished in an elaborate bow. It came to us on a quiet night, in a humble stable wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. This is the simplicity of the Season of Love.
Merry Christmas!
