“EAB’s execution of our core values has allowed us to become a stronger team that consistently exceeds the industry standards with our services. The strength and trust in my team has allowed me to focus on processes and management instead of staying in the weeds. The fact that I really enjoy working at EAB allows me to enjoy my personal life without the stress of working at a place that I don’t enjoy.” – Josh Barnhart
Josh’s History at EAB
Josh started his career with EAB as a TAB Field Technician in 2011. His prior experience as an Energy Analyst for Sempra Energy Solutions and a Senior Digital Controls Technician for the UT Health Science Center brings a unique perspective to the work at EAB.
Since 2011, Josh has carried out a lot of the critical tasks for EAB. He oversaw the development of the continually monitored In-House Testing Laboratories and was in charge of quality control and calibration verification of all field instrumentation and continues to oversee the development of the commissioning program.
Josh specializes in MEP, Life Safety and Security Systems, and has managed over 3 million square feet of animal, laboratory, and healthcare space as a Certified Energy Manager.
A proven leader, Josh was promoted to Commissioning Manager in 2017 to lead the Houston Cx Team. Dedicated to pursuing excellence, Josh focuses his skills by facilitating meetings and strategic discussions to coordinate the overall project scope with the various teams assigned to completing the task.
Josh Barnhart took part in milestone projects that were not only significant to his personal career, but to EAB’s history as well.
Starting in 2011, Josh served as Commissioning Coordinator for the highly complex UT M.D. Anderson Zayed project. It required Josh to coordinate dedicated meetings and conversations with various experts to provide a well-designed plan to complete the vast testing of the many critical and complex systems encompassed in the building.
Over the course of three years (2014-2017), Josh was the Commissioning Project Manager for the Phillips 66 project. From general contractor changes to revisions made to the complexity of the equipment being installed, Josh maintained consistent coordination between all parties involved to move this project to completion.
The University of Houston Quadrangle Project, which took place in 2019-2020, was a significant project for both Josh and EAB. It was one of the first large projects EAB provided commissioning services for the University of Houston. This project was completed successfully and on schedule due to the entire project team working synchronously and supporting the outlined commissioning process. The relationship developed during this project between our team, Austin Commercial and The University of Houston paved the way for many more future projects.
An EAB Special Highlight
When asked “Which of these core values (Integrity, Quality, Consistency and Teamwork) do you most identify with, and what does it mean to you?”, Josh responded:
Utilizing EAB’s core values is what allows us to lead the industry. Consistency builds trust with our clients. No matter which EAB team is on the job, we will always provide a differentiating experience and the quality service for which we are now known.
